The carnival in the village of Lackagh in County Sligo (10 miles from Sligo town near Drumfin) was started in 1962
and lasted for two weeks in May. The carnival ran for the next 4 years, ending in 1965. One of the unusual things in 1965
was that Miss Sligo was being chosen to go onto the the Miss Ireland pageant that year.
