Hayes Hotel, Thurles

Famous as the birthplace of the GAA in 1884, Hayes Hotel has been featuring live bands for many years. Both Hayes Hotel and the Anner Hotel competed for dancer's hearts for many years.

Hayes Hotel, Tullamore

After being sold in 1982, Hayes Hotel was renamed the Phoenix Arms. After being bought and sold five times over the next few years. It was demolished in 2000 to make way for a new development.

Hibernian Hotel, Mallow

The Hibernian has been totally refurbished in recent years, and has (of course) added a leisure center. It caters mostly to business, tourists, and wedding clients these days.

Highlands Hotel, Glenties

The hotel has been owned by the Boyle family for over fifty years and was originally a hunting and fishing lodge belonging to the Marquis of Cunningham. Live entertainment is still alive at this popular spot.

Hillgrove Hotel, Dingle

Refurbished in 1999, the Hillgrove Hotel in Dingle has only 12 rooms, but offers modern comforts and personal service. Music and song is put on some evenings these days.

Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan

The Hillgrove Hotel enjoys a tranquil rural setting and has 44 rooms. It now boasts a nightclub and extensive banquet and conference facilities.

Hilton Club, Cork

From Anita Coughlan comes this photo of the Hilton Club which was formally the Students Club which opened in 1965 and then the Oscar Club which opened in 1984 on Coburg Street Cork City.

Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone

Nestled in the Heart of Irish midlands on the shores of the picturesque Lough Ree, the Hodson Bay Hotel has hosted many showbands in its history.

Holyrood Hotel, Bundoran

During the summers, the Holyrood was one of the hottest spots in the northwest for entertainment. The hotel still provides the best of entertainment under the watchful eye of the McEniff Group.

Horizon Ballroom, Mullingar

From the late 1950’s until it closed in the early 80's, the Horizon was THE concert venue in the Midlands and catered for all tastes of music. In 2001, permission was given to turn it into a restaurant and bar. However it was demolished between 2007 and 2009.

Hotel Keadeen, Newbridge

Completely refurbished, the Keadeen has 77 rooms, and has added the Keadeen Health and Fitness Club. The ballroom was renovated in 1998 and features mostly business conferences and weddings these days.

Hotel Kilmore, Cavan

The Hotel Kilmore was renovated in 2003 and features 39 rooms. A part of the Quinn Hoitel group, it now focuses on tourist trade and local business.

Hotel Minella, Clonmel

Built by the Malcomsoms in 1863, the Minella was opened as a hotel in 1963 by Mr. & Mrs. Jack Nallen.

House of Music, Cong

Sister ballroom to the Sound of Music, Glenamaddy, the House of Music was managed by brothers Joe and jimmy O'Neill's. It's now closed, as seen in this recent photo.

Imperial Hotel, Garvagh

An impressive-looking building, the hotel it's owned and run by the Mullan family who at the time of writing are extending the accommodation from 8 to 16 rooms. Not sure if they still run gigs.

Imperial Hotel, Sligo

A venue for big acts in the early 70's (Thin Lizzy played there), the hotel closed in the late 70's. In 1983 it was purchased and converted to a snooker parlor and eventually added a niteclub. It's now the The Embassy Rooms.

Jackson's Hotel, Ballybofey

Jackson's Hotel opened in 1945 and has provided the best in entertainment for the region. Today, they have lounge music on Tuesday and Saturday Nights and ballroom dancing every sunday night.

Jury's Hotel, Sligo

Once part of the famous Jury's chain of hotels, this landmark is now known as The Sligo Park Hotel and features a major leisure complex.

Kades Kounty, Glenville

Kades Kounty is run by Barry Kennedy and is the only bar in town. He has been bringing in top talent on Saturday and Sunday nights for over twenty years and they still keep coming!

Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise

A three star hotel with 50 rooms. One of the many medium sized hotels across ireland to have held dances from time to time depending on business and promoters.

Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen

Situated on the shores of the Lough Erne, today the Killyhevlin focuses on catering for weddings, conferences or even a weekend break. Dances have become a thing of the past.

Kings Arms Hotel, Larne
